How does changing light change water use?

The canopy reads its light environment and signals the roots. Under scattered, red-enriched light, plants run less daily water stress and build deeper, denser root systems, so they extract more from the same irrigation. Less of the water you pay for is spent compensating for light stress.

Who verified the water numbers?

The water-stress and root-density results come from research collaborations including UC Davis, alongside more than 65 commercial field trials since 2019. The World Economic Forum projects that if 15 to 25% of farms adopt precision agriculture, global water use falls 20% by 2030; light management is one of the levers.
